This policy covers chiefcustomerofficer.io — the newsletter, podcast, and free resources on this site. It does not cover Uncommon, which is a separate product with its own privacy policy, linked from that site.
What we collect
If you subscribe to the newsletter or request one of the free resources on this site, we collect your email address via our email provider, Beehiiv. We also record which page or resource you signed up through, so we know what you were actually interested in — nothing more specific than that.
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand site traffic — page views, referring site, approximate location, device and browser type. It doesn't use cookies. Visitors are identified by a hash that's discarded after 24 hours, and it's never linked to your email address or any other personal information.
How we use it
- To send you the newsletter and the resource you asked for
- To understand which pages and resources people actually use
- To occasionally let you know about Uncommon, since that's the paid product this free content supports
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Third parties we use
- Beehiiv — stores your email address and sends the newsletter and resource emails.
- Vercel — hosts this site and provides the cookieless analytics described above.
- GitHub — hosts the CS Skills Library repo. If you visit or fork it, that's governed by GitHub's own privacy policy, not ours.
Your choices
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link — it works immediately, no need to contact us. If you want your data deleted entirely rather than just unsubscribed, email us and we'll take care of it.
Children
This site is intended for working professionals. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If we materially change this policy, we'll note it here with a new effective date.
